Seattle pimp sentenced to 10 years in prison
SEATTLE (AP) — A federal judge has ordered a Seattle pimp to spend the next 10 years in prison.
And once Desmond Trevain Manago gets out, he'll have to be on supervised release for 25 years.
Manago pleaded guilty in September to forcing a young girl to work as a prostitute in Washington, Idaho, Colorado, Arizona and California.
Federal prosecutors say he advertised his victim on the website Backpage.com. He forced the girl to give him all the money she earned. She broke free in California and Manago was arrested.
Acting U.S. Attorney Annette Hayes says like countless pimps before him, Manago was "manipulative and predatory."
Hayes says he spent his life exploiting troubled young women for his financial gain. She says the prison term will help to protect other vulnerable victims.
