Suspect arrested in Islamic Center of Tacoma arson
UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - Pierce County detectives arrested a 38-year-old man in connection with an arson at the Islamic Center of Tacoma in University Place earlier this month.
On Oct. 11, crews responded to a report of a fire in the 2000 block of Bridgeport Way West.
Investigators said people were inside the building when the fire started but they got out safely.
On Tuesday, the Pierce County Sheriff's Department said they quickly identified and located the suspect after tips from the community and a thorough investigation by its arson detective.
He was taken into custody and detectives served a search warrant at his home.
He was booked into the Pierce County Jail for on suspicion of first-degree arson.
