Suspect in deadly Seattle Westlake rail station shooting arrested
SEATTLE – The man accused of shooting three people, one fatally, Friday night in a downtown Seattle light rail station has been arrested, the department said.
Police say a fight broke out on the street between two groups of people which transitioned inside the Westlake light-rail station near Third Avenue and Pine Street.
The suspect pulled out a gun and opened fire inside the tunnel around 9:20 p.m. Officers performed CPR on victims before Seattle Fire transported all three to Harborview Medical Center where 21-year-old Dawda Corr died.
The 20-year-old suspect was arrested by the Bellevue Police Department Monday around 2 p.m.
"Something like that happening in the downtown core is completely unacceptable," Investigations Chief Deanna Nollette said. "We were fortunate there were surveillance tools at our disposable where we could identify the suspect and get him into custody before someone else was injured."
The identity of the suspect hasn’t been released yet, but Seattle police say he lives and Bellevue and has a long history with law enforcement.
