Tacoma Narrows Bridge closure this weekend

A heads up for drivers in the south sound: The westbound Tacoma Narrows Bridge will shut down Friday night for the entire weekend.

The state Washington state Department of Transportation said crews will replace a faulty expansion joint.

The bridge will close at 10 p.m. Friday until 4 .m. Monday morning.

Highway 16 will be reduced to two lanes in both directions to compensate for the closure.

Also, the westbound on and off-ramps to 24th Street Northwest will be closed. Tolls will continue to be collected in the eastbound direction.
