Tacoma toddler dies from trauma to the stomach

TACOMA -- Neighbors were shocked Monday after a Tacoma toddler's death is deemed a homicide.

It's two days into the investigation with no arrest, leading to many questions about how the child died and who may be responsible.

“This lady moved here about a week ago, I don’t think anybody really knows her,” said one neighbor.

Now everyone on South J Street in Tacoma is talking about that lady and her son, Sayvon Jordan, who died Saturday. The Pierce County Medical Examiner`s Office says Jordan died from blunt force trauma to the stomach.

Tacoma police say they still have more interviews to do before releasing more details of the investigation.

All they could say Monday is that a family member brought the child to Mary Bridge Hospital Saturday morning, but the toddler had already died.

Charedy doesn`t know the family but the tragic news brought her back to her old house, a home she says isn't fit for a family with kids.

“We just moved out of here not even a month ago,” Charedy said.

This weekend Charedy got frantic messages from concerned friends who believed her family still lived in the home in the 2500 block of South J Street.

“We got a lot of phone calls and I was, like, I don’t live there anymore. That’s when I heard a family moved in with children,” Charedy said.

“The ceiling has damage, the floor has damage, it’s not livable. No one should be living in that house right now,” Charedy said.

Several family members currently live together in the house with multiple kids.

Police say they alerted the state's Child Protective Services about their current investigation.
