Tacoma woman arrested after 2 DUIs in 1 day
TACOMA -- A 43-year-old woman is in jail after being pulled over two times in one day on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, the Tacoma News Tribune reported.
A Washington State Patrol trooper received a report of a woman driving erratically southbound on Interstate 5 Tuesday afternoon near Lacey. Troopers pulled over a red 2002 Kia and the driver, who police said was drug impaired, was taken to the hospital for a blood draw. Her car was impounded and she was released to the custody of her friend because she had no prior DUIs, the News Tribune reported.
Later Tuesday, Troopers spotted a 2005 Toyota pickup on northbound I-5 near DuPont, Wash. The driver was driving erratically. Police pulled over the car and quickly realized it was the same woman who was arrested earlier in the day. She appeared to be even more intoxicated than before, and didn't even remember she was arrested earlier in the day in Thurston County.
"When troopers got her the second time, she didn't even realize what had happened the first time," Washington State Patrol Trooper Guy Gill told the News Tribune.
The woman thought her first vehicle was stolen and she was out looking for it. She showed "very extreme" signs of drug impairment, Gill told the News Tribune. However, the results of the blood draw have not yet been released.
The woman was booked in Pierce County Jail for suspicion of driving under the influence.
