Former Texas Longhorns Wide Receiver Johntay Cook II was arrested in Fort Worth Tuesday, jail records show.

What we know:

Cook was booked in the Tarrant County Jail on charges of interfering with public duties and theft of property between $100-$750.

No bond was listed.

Cook, a former 5-star recruit in the 2023 class, left the team in November.

Coach Steve Sarkisian called the decision a "mutual decision."

What we don't know:

Details of Cook's arrest were not immediately available Tuesday morning.

The backstory:

Cook was among the nation's top recruits when he signed with Texas.

As a freshman he caught eight passes for 136 yards in 14 games.

In 2024, Cook had eight receptions for 137 and two touchdowns in six games before leaving the program.

He announced he was transferring to the University of Washington in December.

The transfer was short-lived, and it was announced Cook was no longer with Washington in January.
