Vandals use axes to damage homeowner’s property twice in three days
SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. – A homeowner near Marysville documents damage after vandals trashed his property twice in less than one week.
“The first thing you notice is the blunt force required to bust it off of the hinges,” said Foley Cleveland as he examined a damaged door frame.
Cleveland owns the rental property and said vandals for some unknown reason kicked, axed, and picked their way into all three buildings on the property.
“We don’t feel safe at this point,” said Cleveland. “Since a person would do this with nothing to gain, will they be back? We think they will.”
The crooks also took aim at a 100-year-old shed with a pair of axes.
“They proceeded on to drive an ax into the wall,” said Cleveland. “What’s to gain from this type of destruction? Nothing.”
They vandals first hit about a week ago. The couple made repairs only to have the vandals return three days later.
Police said in addition to the damage, the crooks later stole surveillance cameras but not all of them. One camera caught images of several young men. Police aren’t calling them suspects but Cleveland believes they might have information about the vandalism.
“When you bust down that door, you know, if my dog would have been in there or if I would have been in there, it could have turned nasty,” Cleveland said.
Anyone with information about the vandalism or the identity of the people caught on surveillance video is asked to call police.
