Washington families of missing kids join together for 'National Missing Children's Day'
TUMWATER -- Families of missing children in Washington state gathered at the Walmart in Tumwater to draw attention to all the kids that have disappeared. May 25 was National Missing Children's Day and several families were on site representing their missing loved ones. Families of Danica Childs, missing from Federal Way; Kelsey Collins missing from Everett; Teekah Lewis from Tacoma and Lindsey Baum from McCleary. Special guests included Steve Groene from Idaho and Wendy Cowell from Wenatchee, arriving to represent their lost loved ones. Many agencies were on site to help support prevention education in our communities -- the Washington State Patrol and Gordon's Trucking set up trailers promoting their "Homeward Bound" program. Washington state's missing children's cases were named by county. We have approximately 200 missing children's cases to date and the majority receive no media attention.
