Wind advisory issued as storm bears down on area
MUKILTEO -- The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory which is in effect from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday night, as a late fall storm bore down on Seattle and surrounding areas.
Weather service officials said areas around Seattle could see winds between 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. As of 8:30 a.m. Thursday, we are experiencing some scattered rain showers and gusting winds. In Mukilteo, sustained winds up to 20 mph blew through town. The storm is expected to pick up steam throughout the day.
This storm comes on the heels of Saturday's storm that left thousands in the dark and downed trees and damaged power lines, homes and vehicles. With the upcoming weather event, clogged gutters from leaves are also a concern, but Snohomish County PUD hasn't reported any outages at this time.
Take Winter By Storm is offering some helpful tips in the event of a major storm.
First, have a 3-day supply of nonperishable food items and water in your home or office. Make a plan with your family in case of an emergency. And, most importantly, stay informed.
