With a break in flames, state officials out of California are getting a better understanding of what the cleanup and recovery efforts will look like in Los Angeles County following massive deadly fires in Pacific Palisades and Altadena.

Moments after airing, we learned the death toll of the Los Angeles wildfires had increased from 16 to at least 24 people. Officials said they expected that figure to rise as teams with cadaver dogs conduct systematic grid searches in leveled neighborhoods.

Most recent reports show 16 people are now confirmed dead. Officials expect that number to continue growing. At least 150,000 people in L.A. County are under evacuation orders. Crews from nine other states, including Washington, are helping California fire crews to try to stop the spread. CA will offload shelter animals to Seattle as wildfires rage

Dozens of cats and dogs from Los Angeles County animal shelters will fly into Boeing Field this weekend. Seattle Humane is partnering with Wings of Rescue and Paws 4 Life K9 Rescue to bring in the arrivals, to help animals impacted by wildfires burning in Los Angeles.

WA fire crews arriving in LA to battle wildfires

Firefighters all the way from the Evergreen State have made their way down to California to help battle massive wildfires in Los Angeles County. More than 140 firefighters from nine local fire departments in Washington made the trek down to California starting earlier this week and finally arrived Friday night.
