Despite a cool and wet spring, the Washington Department of Ecology on Thursday extended a drought emergency declaration for watersheds in eight eastern Washington counties.

A cold front will push through Western Washington Thursday bringing widespread rain showers back to the area.

A beautiful day across the region with highs warming into the upper 60 to low 70s. 

Researchers believe the historic heat wave that blasted parts of the Pacific Northwest and Canada during the summer of 2021 may not have happened if it wasn't for a nearby storm system that produced a layer of clouds that impacted the area's available heat.

A weak weather system dropped some rain on the Puget Sound area this morning, but drier and sunnier weather is on tap for Wednesday afternoon.

Highs will top out near normal for Wednesday. We're forecasting partly to mostly cloudy skies with temps in the mid to upper 60s up and down the I-5 corridor.

Mainly dry and cloudy weather expected for Tuesday with temperatures staying in the low 60s. The next round of rain arrives on Thursday evening.

After a phenomenal day Sunday, Monday will be cooler and cloudier with a chance for some light showers or sprinkles.

It's been over 40 days since we've had a high temperature in the 70s and today marked the second! We officially hit 71 this afternoon. An approaching front will drop that temperature tomorrow though. Expect highs back in the lower 60s!
