Getting hot - Weather Alert Day on Friday

Today through Friday we're warming up to the uncomfortable zone.  SeaTac will probably nudge 90 on Friday, with temps climbing into the low/mid 90s to the south and in the Cascade foothills away from Puget Sound.  This is potentially unhealthy for some, especially if you don't have air conditioning.  Today we begin the warming with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s to the mid/upper 80s.

Warming up this week! We say hello to the upper 80s to low 90s for Western WA.

What a beautiful day we saw around the region.  Highs soaring into the upper 60s to low 70s at the coast with 70s and 80s inland.  A warming trend is the theme the rest of the week as an upper ridge builds in over the area.  This will push some spots into the 90s!  So, keep the sunscreen and sunglasses handy!

Cedar Creek and Cub Creek 2 fires are both around 10% containment. The Chuweah Creek Fire at 65% containment. The Bootleg Fire in Oregon is at 53% containment while the Dixie fire in northern California is only 22% contained.

Winds and 'fire clouds' feed California's largest blaze

Gusts also hindered containment efforts and the problem could get worse with the predicted arrival of pyrocumulus clouds — literally meaning “fire clouds ” — which can bring lightning and the risk of new ignitions.

Another lovely and comfortable July day

If you liked yesterday and the day before and the day before . . . you're going to like today.  Expect mostly sunny skies with highs around 80.  Normal for this time of year is 79 for SeaTac, so today will be a perfectly normal and enjoyable July day.

It's going to heat up this week!

Happy Monday! We can add another beautiful Summer day to the books. We reached a high of 83 degrees this afternoon under mainly sunny skies. This dry weather will continue this week along with hot temperatures. Here is a look at what tomorrow will bring. A little breezy along the coast, but other than that it'll be picture perfect.

Crews continue to fight several major fires up and down the West Coast. Washington firefighters are struggling to contain fires in Wenatchee and Okanogan County and a couple of new fires in the Spokane area.

Perfect summer weather for last week of July

This comfy weather looks likely to last through the end of the week and into the first day of August - at least.

Seattle this July: Sunnier than Phoenix; drier than Los Angeles

What has been constant for sure around here is that it's been dry, frequently sunny, and rather temperate -- though not quite as cool as some other location that are usually some 25 degrees hotter! It's led to some rather strange reversals on the summer weather scoreboards around the West.

Warm and sunny Sunday, dry streak continues into next weekend

*RED FLAG WARNING* is in effect in portions of Kittitas and Yakima counties from 2pm-9pm due to gusty winds and low relative humidity. Impact will be rapid-fire spread in new or existing fires.
