Trump orders reopening of Alcatraz prison in CA
Donald Trump has ordered the reopening of Alcatraz prison after being closed for more than 60 years. The president directed the Bureau of Prisons, the FBI, and Homeland Security to update and enlarge the California island prison so it can house the country's most violent criminal offenders. Alcatraz shut down in 1963 because of its crumbling infrastructure and the high cost to repair and maintain operations.
