Filipino migrant released from Tacoma ICE facility after court order
Greggy Sorio, known as “Kuya G,” has been released from the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma after a federal court approved his petition for habeas corpus. Activists say the 42-year-old Filipino migrant, a lawful permanent resident for two decades, spent nearly a year fighting deportation and faced serious health issues while detained, including the amputation of a toe due to infection. A U.S. District Court judge ruled his continued detention violated the Constitution and ordered his immediate release.
