'Bank Box Bandits:" Pair of bold crooks go 'fishing' for cash with sticky card, wire string
WANTED IN PIERCE COUNTY -- A couple of crooks got caught on camera ‘fishing’ at a Puyallup bank. "We have two unidentified suspects who went up to a night deposit box at one of our bank branches," says Lauren Wallin with Crime Stoppers of Tacoma-Pierce County. "They took a card that was covered in glue and had probably some type of fishing line or other type of wire string attached to it. They lowered it into the night time deposit box in an attempt to have it stick to envelopes full of cash and pull them back out. Now, these thieves weren't too good at it. They tried multiple times as you can see on the video, but were unsuccessful on getting any cash out of the box. This is an unusual way of trying to steal money. It's kind of an "old school" way of doing things. We don't see it very often. Fortunately for the customers of that bank, they were not able to steal anything, but we're guessing they've probably tried this before, hopefully also unsuccessfully and they're probably going to try it again, so we'd like to get them caught before they do it again and try to steal from somebody."
Detectives think the woman's in her 20's. She's thin with brown hair and was wearing a black hoodie with the word 'Pink' across the chest and two white stripes around the sleeves above the elbows. The man is believed to also be in his 20's. He possibly had a goatee or moustache and was wearing a black track jacket with a white strip from collar to cuffs on the sleeves.
