Active weather week with rain, gusts and coastal thunderstorms

SEATTLE -- The fall rains head in this week for some sloppy weather.

Monday will be very nice with some great fall sunshine and beautiful fall colors, and highs around 63. But that's essentially where the sunshine ends for at least the foreseeable future.
TUESDAY: A slow moving front will approach the coast around the late morning/early afternoon hours. It will move inland throughout the day. Rainfall totals aren't overly impressive with most spots receiving 0.10-0.25 inches of rain. The coast will see 1-1.5 inches of rain.

WEDNESDAY: Looks to pack a bigger punch with an additional 1-1.5 inches of rain. Gusty conditions will accompany the system, especially for the coast and northern interior. Also, the Storm Prediction Center has already hatched out the coast for thunderstorm activity. Rainfall totals through Wednesday for the coast and northern counties will be 2-3 inches and for the Sound about 0.25-0.75 inches of rain.

*Major flooding is not a concern at this time but we could see some nuisance flooding on the roads.*

THURSDAY: Conditions can get dicey for the mountains because rain may switch over to snow. In the lowlands, expect showers.

FRIDAY & WEEKEND: Another front will bring rain through the weekend.

PRECIPITATION TOTALS THIS WEEK: Over the next seven days, projected rainfall totals for most areas will be 2-5 inches, and locally higher amounts.

TEMPERATURE TREND THIS WEEK: With the lack of sunshine through the week, expect high temperatures to gradually cool day by day going from 60 today to 54 on Sunday. Overnight lows will stay steady in the mid to upper 40s because of the cloud cover.
