2 dead following Tacoma beer heist
TACOMA - Two men died in a car crash after allegedly stealing beer from a convenience store and then fleeing at a high rate of speed early Wednesday morning.
Tacoma police spokesperson Loretta Cool said the two reportedly stole beer from a store in the 7200 block of McKinley Avenue around 12:30 a.m. The two then ran out of the store, hopped into a car and sped off.
The driver fled at a high rate of speed and at some point lost control and crashed the vehicle off the road near 64th Street and M Street. The force of the crash threw the driver and passenger from the vehicle, officials said. Tacoma Fire Department personnel pronounced both men dead at the scene.
Police are investigating the accident. The Pierce County Medical Examiner has not yet released the names of the men.
