5-year-old boy critically injured in Auburn crash
AUBURN - A 5-year-old boy was critically injured Sunday morning when the car he was riding in crashed into a tree near the Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn. Auburn Police Commander Mike Herman said that the boy and his 8-year old sister were in a car driven by their mother's boyfriend, around 2:20 a.m. The 21-year-old man reportedly lost control of the car, which crashed into a large tree in the 3600 block of Auburn Way South, Hirman said.
The driver and the boy's 8-year old sister were not seriously hurt.
Police are looking at speed, weather conditions and alcohol as possible factors in the crash.
When firefighters arrived on scene they found the man and the boy trapped in the car; the girl had gotten out of the car by herself, the Valley Regional Fire Authority reported in a press release. Medics transported the man and the two kids to Harborview. The kids, their mother and the boyfriend are from Pacific, Hirman said.
