68-year-old man rescued after falling into abandoned well

SPANAWAY -- A 68-year-old man fell down a 20-foot-deep abandoned well on his property Wednesday night but was rescued by Central Pierce Fire & Rescue crews, it was reported.
The man’s condition was not immediately known.
Central Pierce Fire & Rescue spokesman Ed Hrivnak told the Tacoma News Tribune that the man was in his shed in the Spanaway area when the concrete floor broke and he fell into the well below, which was about 3 feet wide and 20 feet deep..
The homeowners were not aware that the well even existed, Hrivnak told the newspaper.
The man's wife saw him fall in and called 911.
