A fabulous Fourth

Northwest weather in a word --  awesome. Temps cooling back toward normal, which for Seattle is 74 degrees. But, we'll still be quite warm. We had some brief morning clouds today-- but those are melting away to reveal mostly sunny skies around the region. We'll see temps close to 80 degrees for the I-5 corridor yet again today. Coastal areas see a bit more clouds-- with temps in the 65-70 range.

There is a Red Flag Warning in effect for Central WA and North Central OR. Breezy conditions along with hot temperatures combine for some extreme fire danger potential. Be careful with fire and fireworks over the holiday weekend-- most of the region is tinder dry. We've switched from our rainy season to our fire season. East of the Cascades 7 out of 10 wildfires are human caused.

A great Independence Day for tomorrow-- we'll see highs 75-80 from Bellingham down to Eugene. A few morning clouds and nice afternoon sunshine. A totally dry day-- in fact the rain looks to stay away through the weekend and beyond. I'm wondering if we're seeing a start of a trend. Though we joke here that summer doesn't begin in the NW until July 5th-- we haven't seen rain in Seattle on the 4th of July since 2010.

Enjoy!
