Airlines reservation system outage impacts travelers
SEATTLE -- A number of airlines, including Alaska, United, American, Virgin and Jet Blue suffered a computer outage that delayed many traveler's plans.
The computer system, run by software company Sabre Airline Solutions, acknowledged the problem and said they were working to resolve the issue.
Perry Cooper, Sea-Tac Airport spokesman, said there are no issues with the operation of the airport. He said what is causing concern are the arriving flights because delayed outbound flights could back up the gates, making it difficult to deplane passengers.
An Alaska spokeswoman said that 52 of the airline's flights were delayed nationwide around 11 p.m. She did not have an estimated time when the system would be back up.
