Armed robber repeatedly strikes local Snohomish County gas stations

LAKE STEVENS, Wash. – There were some frightening moments caught on camera of what police call a serial armed robber targeting local gas stations.

Detectives said the same man has hit three stores in just as many weeks.

The latest happened at a Getchel area Shell gas station on July 31.

Cameras showed him lifting his shirt and showing his gun to the clerk who then emptied the register and handed over the cash.

“We’re pretty sure this is going to be someone who lives in that area,” said Shari Ireton with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the string of robberies began July 23 across the street at the local Chevron gas station.

Cameras caught the crook in the act showing the robber wearing a mask as he barged in with his gun drawn and aimed at the cashier.

Cops said the crook grabbed the cash and also stole the clerk’s cellphone.

Three days later, detectives said the same suspect returned to rob the convenience store a second time.

Detectives believe the suspect is a white man between 20 and 30, standing between 5-foot-6” and 6-foot, and weighing around 150-160 pounds. In each robbery the suspect wore blue jeans and a pair of black shoes with white soles. Plus, cameras caught him wearing gloves that could stand out in a crowd.

The robberies have happened in the early morning hours; police worry an unsuspecting customer could wander into trouble if he strikes again.

“He’s a repeat offender and we’re worried about the safety of the public and obviously the staff,” said Ireton.

Anyone with information on the robberies is asked to call the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office tip line at (425) 388-3845.
