Arrests made in 2023 Gig Harbor drive-by shooting
GIG HARBOR, Wash. - The Gig Harbor Police Department recently announced two arrests made in connection to a 2023 drive-by shooting.
The incident happened on June 6, 2024, near 38th Avenue and Hunt Street. A juvenile victim reported she and her brother were being pursued and fired upon by two vehicles.
Luckily, the 17-year-old victim and her 23-year-old brother were not injured in the shooting.
Detectives determined through interviews that this was not a random attack, but it was likely targeted in retaliation for a homicide that took place in Kitsap County in 2021.
It's believed the shooting was in connection to the kidnapping and murder of Tyrone Sero.
After processing a substantial amount of evidence, Gig Harbor police were able to identify two suspects in the 2023 drive-by.
After being interviewed, 19-year-old Rocco Fanara and 20-year-old Demondrae Jones were arrested and booked into Pierce County Jail. Both suspects are from Port Orchard.
Fanara and Jones are charged with two counts of first-degree assault with a firearm enhancement and one count of drive-by shooting.
Police said additional suspects may face charges.
Anyone with more information on this incident is asked to contact Police Chief Kelly Busey at (253) 851-2236.
