Brother accused of stealing $83,000 from disabled sibling

RICHLAND, Wash. (AP) — A Richland man is facing a first-degree theft charge after $83,000 was withdrawn from his developmentally disabled brother's bank account.

The Tri-City Herald reports that a bank manager called Adult Protective Services to report a major withdrawal from the man's account, saying he became suspicious because the bank has helped the brother pay his bills for years.

David M. Little pleaded not guilty Wednesday, and says he invested the money for his big brother's long-term care.

The bank manager discovered Little withdrew the money from another branch using a cashier's check. Kennewick Detective Marco Monteblanco investigated the withdrawal, and found the money went to a title company for the purchase of a Richland home.

The victim told investigators there were no plans for him to live in the home.
