Cops catch accused home burglar, Steven Goodman, who had got away with guns
FUGITIVE CAPTURED August 7, 2013 -- The Clallam County Sheriff's Office says 24-year-old Port Angeles resident, Steven Goodman, the outstanding suspect in the July 21st burglary and theft of firearms from a Cherry Street residence in Port Angeles, was captured on Wednesday, August 7th, near Beaver. Two other suspects in the case had already been captured during a multiagency manhunt on the day of the burglary. The ongoing search for Goodman had led to a stand-off in Gales Edition just east of Port Angeles on 07-23-13, where Goodman was believed to have hidden with another male inside of a garage. Precautions were exercised since Goodman was potentially armed. A tactical team forced entry after repeated negotiation attempts and took another male into custody for an unrelated preexisting arrest warrant. Authorities discovered in that incident that Goodman had fled prior to law enforcement arrival. Tips continued to come in, and investigators checked leads in two other counties as well. On the evening of 08-07-13, independent tips placed Goodman in the Lake Pleasant area of Beaver. Deputy James Dixon and Forks Police Officers Mike Rowley and Don Ponton responded. When the patrol units arrived in the area, Goodman fled on foot from a vehicle parked at the Hungry Bear Café. Officers Rowley and Ponton pursued on foot and overtook Goodman when his course intersected the Sol Duc River. Goodman did not resist further and was taken into custody. He was then taken to a medical facility for treatment of a complication that he incurred earlier in the day before contact with law enforcement. An additional charge of resisting arrest will be referred to the Clallam County Prosecutor’s Office for Goodman’s attempt to evade the Officers on foot.
