Driver killed, passenger injured in motorcycle accident on West Seattle Freeway ramp

SEATTLE - One man died, and his female passenger critically injured, in a motorcycle accident on the ramp from the West Seattle Freeway to Interstate-5 early Wednesday morning. The accident happened at 1 a.m. when the driver failed to negotiate the turn on the eastbound ramp of the Freeway, the Washington State Patrol (WSP) reported.

The driver died at the accident scene and the passenger was ejected, landing on some nearby netting. The ramp reopened to southbound Interstate-5 reopened just before 4 a.m., WSP said.

Speed is being investigated as a possible factor in the accident. The name of the driver will be released by the King County Medical Examiner, pending notification of next of kin.
