Everett man hospitalized after hit-and-run over garbage dispute

EVERETT -- An Everett man is in the hospital with severe injuries after police say someone ran him over after a garbage dispute.

“He's working, constantly helping people, just like what he was doing. He was helping someone with their property,” says neighbor, Jamie Neubauer.

Neubauer says the victim is her neighbor of 26 years, Jim Dulaney. Everett Police say the hit and run happened on Evergreen highway.

Business owners say Dulaney had been renovating a vacant office building, when he noticed a man in a black Chevy Avalanche, illegally dumping trash in the parking lot.

Police say Dulaney confronted the man, then the suspect ran Dulaney over in the pickup.  That same night, Everett police say Snohomish county deputies arrested a man after Mukilteo police found a burning Chevy Avalanche.

Investigators have not linked the two cases because they still need to talk to Dulaney, who is heavily sedated in the hospital.
