FDA to regulate e-cigarette and other tobacco products
SEATTLE -- The Food and Drug Administration is bringing e-cigarettes and other tobacco products under its supervision.
New regulations will require makers of electronic cigarettes and smokeless tobacco products to get federal approval in order to keep selling their products.
The FDA will also require that e-cigarettes not be sold to any person under the age of 18 and that health warnings be placed on all packaging and advertisements.
It's a sweeping change the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network supports. They've already helped pass legislation regulating e-cigarette sales in Washington State.
Mary McHale, the agency's Washington Government Relations Director appeared on Q13 Fox News to talk about the health benefits of this new federal oversight.
