Fire rips through garage, destroys Tacoma home

TACOMA, Wash. - A Tacoma home was destroyed after a garage fire early Friday morning. 

Crews responded at about 2:45 a.m. to a report of a fire in the 400 block of East 72bd Street. 

When firefighters arrived, there was a fully-involved fire in the garage. At one point, crews had to use saws to gain access to one of the exposed buildings. 

Fire officials said two additional engines were requested to protect nearby homes. 

Before 4 a.m., crews were able to get the fire under control and stayed at the scene to monitor hotspots. 

No injuries were reported. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
