Fire set at Kent elementary school damages classroom

KENT, Wash. (AP) — An arson fire at an elementary school in Kent has caused extensive smoke and fire damage to a classroom.

A spokesman with the Kent Regional Fire Authority says no one was injured in the early Monday fire. No one was at the school because of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Capt. Kyle Ohashi says someone broke the window of a classroom at Horizon Elementary and lit paper products on fire.

Fire officials responded when alarms went off at the school around 2:45 a.m.

Police and school security searched the building but did not find any suspects.
