Gov. calls for 2nd special session
OLYMPIA -- Washington state Governor Jay Inslee called for a second special legislative session to start on Wednesday, a day after lawmakers were scheduled to conclude their first 30-day special session Tuesday night.
Inslee called the session in order for the Senate and House to come together and agree on a state budget. The house voted Monday to approve a temporary budget plan that would guard against a government shutdown, but the two chambers appeared far apart on any long-term compromise.
