High speed crash causes traffic backup on SR-167 near Auburn, WA

A high speed crash on State Route 167 caused long backups heading into busy Seattle-area afternoon traffic on Friday afternoon. 

Initially, all lanes were blocked on SR-167 just south of Ellingson Road in Pacific, south of Auburn. 

Troopers report the driver was going over 100 mph when they tried to initiate a traffic stop. Law enforcement say they then sped off recklessly and eventually crashed.

Trooper Dattilo reports one person has been hospitalized following the crash and that the driver has been arrested for driving under the influence. 

The crash site was cleared around 3:20 p.m.
