Heavy snowfall causes Snoqualmie Pass closures

Up in the mountain passes, heavy snow made things challenging for drivers.

Interstate 90 Snoqualmie Pass traffic is snarled due to snow and slush on the roadway causing multiple spinouts and collisions.

What we know:

Westbound I-90 has since reopened after previously being closed at Easton. Eastbound I-90 lanes were also originally closed at North Bend, but have reopened.

What they're saying:

Officials reported heavy snow near the Snoqualmie Pass Summit Wednesday afternoon.

Traction tires are advised for all vehicles traveling over the pass. Oversized vehicles are prohibited.

What's next:

A Blizzard Warning is set to take effect for the Washington Cascades from 6 p.m. Wednesday through 5 a.m. Thursday. Pass travel is expected to be extremely difficult during the overnight hours.
