It’s true: Area 51 really exists
LAS VEGAS – Area 51, a longtime favorite of conspiracy theorists, has been officially acknowledged by the U.S. government.
Newly released documents from the CIA, show a map of the base’s location in southern Nevada. According to the reports, Area 51 was a testing site for the U2 and OXCART aerial surveillance programs between 1954-1974. The U2 program conducted surveillance around the world, including over the Soviet Union during the Cold War.
Previously, the feds would simply recognize the existence of a facility where the government tested intelligence tools and weapons. The newly released documents to not mention any alien landings, flying saucers or other extra-terrestrial events. Conspiracy theorists have long believed the remnants of the Roswell crash have been housed at the facility.
