'It’s very humbling:' Inspired by her faith, young Muslim-American opens clinic to help the poor
REDMOND -- All this week, “Q13 News This Morning” is highlighting the stories of Muslim Americans working to make our communities – and our country – a better place.
Motivated by trips to homeless camps with her family to feed the needy, 23-year-old Nehath Sheriff, of Sammamish, set out to end health disparities by opening a free clinic inside a Redmond mosque.
“Being raised as a Muslim American, we’re always taught to give back to the community in any way that we can. And I guess this clinic is my way of giving back,” she said. “We aim to inspire others by treating them the best we can – by being the best people we can, and leading by example.”
