Man charged with murder dies in King County Jail
SEATTLE -- A 42-year-old man charged with killing his ex-girlfriend died from natural causes Sunday at the King County Correctional Facility , jail officials said.
Roger V. Seela was found unresponsive in his cell around 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Seattle fire and medics responded, and pronounced Seela dead at 7:50 p.m.
Seela suffered from metastatic gastric adenocarcinoma -- a form of cancer -- the Seattle Times reported.
Seela was charged with killing his former girlfriend in July 2013 in the SoDo area, and leaving her body on railroad tracks. He was being held on $1 million bail.
According to the Seattle PI, Seela was homeless prior to being arrested, and had a criminal history which included second-degree assault with a pair of scissors.
The King County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct a review to determine the official cause of death.
