Man fatally shot by SWAT marksman near Lacey identified
LACEY, Wash. (AP) — A man fatally shot by a Thurston County SWAT marksman after the man held his 3-year-old daughter at knifepoint has been identified.
The Thurston County Coroner's Office identified the man as 30 year-old Feagaiga Tausaga Leiataua.
Sheriff's deputies were called to a home Sunday just outside Lacey on the report of a stabbing.
They found a man with stab wounds who said he was attacked by his cousin who was still inside the home. The man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
Deputies got the victim's parents out of the house as Leiataua went into a bedroom with his daughter. The sheriff's office says he could be seen holding the child as a shield and threatening her with the knife.
Three hours later, the marksman shot the suspect and SWAT rescued the girl.
