Man found shot dead outside Tacoma home; suspect commits suicide
TACOMA -- A man was found shot dead outside a Tacoma home and police launched a massive search for the gunman in the area Thursday night.
Tacoma police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said the shooting took place in the area of North 48th and North Ferdinand streets.
Residents were told to stay inside their homes and call police if they saw anything suspicious.
But Tacoma police said the suspect later committed suicide in Gig Harbor.
There was an unconfirmed report that the suspect may have been a family member of the victim, but that report had not been confirmed.
No other details were immediately available.
