Man hit, killed by freight train on Seattle Waterfront
SEATTLE - Police are investigating after a man was hit and killed by a freight train along the Seattle Waterfront on Tuesday morning.
Timeline:
According to authorities, a man was walking near Broad Street and Alaskan Way before 10:00 a.m., heading westbound. He waited for the southbound train to pass along Alaskan Way, then crossed the train tracks, unaware that a northbound was also about to pass.
Police say the man was hit by a BNSF train and died from his injuries.

Seattle police and fire personnel were called to the intersection. The train engineer told officers he was traveling 15 mph and was just two miles from his destination.
Police did not conduct a criminal investigation.
