Postal worker shot, killed in Tukwila

A postal worker is dead after a shooting outside the Tukwila USPS Processing and Distribution Center.

Tukwila police say the suspect in a fatal shooting of a postal worker died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Tuesday.

What we know:

The original shooting happened just before 4 p.m. at the USPS Processing and Distribution Center in Tukwila. Police said a U.S. Postal Service employee was shot and killed outside the facility.

Officers quickly identified the suspect in the shooting, and later found him in a vehicle in Seattle's South Park neighborhood.

Damaged car recovered after police activity in South Park

A damaged car was seen being towed from the scene in Seattle's South Park neighborhood after police responded to the area Tuesday night.

As officers and detectives moved in to detain the suspect, he allegedly shot himself, and later died after being rushed to the hospital.

Tukwila police said the suspect and victim were both USPS employees, and knew each other before the fatal shooting.

This is believed to be an isolated incident, though it is unknown what led up to the shooting.
