Man sustains life-threatening injuries in Vespa accident

SEATTLE - The driver of a Vespa scooter sustained life-threatening injuries Thursday when he collided with a SUV.

The accident happened just after 5 p.m. at the intersection of 6th Ave. S. and S. Michigan St. in the Georgetown neighborhood.

Police say the SUV was heading south on 6th and the scooter was heading east on Michigan when they collided in the intersection.

The 27-year-old driver of the scooter was ejected and was taken to Harborview with life-threatening injuries.

The female driver of the SUV was evaluated for signs of impairment and was released when no impairment was detected.
