McDonald’s moves into the chicken wing business
(LOS ANGELES) – Just in time for football season, McDonald’s is moving off the sidelines and getting into the chicken wing business. Starting September 9, the world’s largest fast food chain plans to roll out “Mighty Wings.”
The bone-in wings are breaded and seasoned with cayenne and chili pepper, and will be sold in packs of three, five and ten with prices starting at $2.99.
According to the Los Angeles Times, customers have nine dipping sauces to choose from, including Chipotle Barbeque, Creamy Ranch and Sweet Chili Sauce.
However, the venture could be difficult. Quoting the National Chicken Council, animal feed prices have soared, and more Americans are looking for cheaper snacks. Chicken sales peaked in 2011, but have gone down a little since.
