Missing person found dead in Thurston County, WA

Authorities out of Thurston County have found a missing person dead.

On Thursday, January 9, deputies went to the home of a missing person. There, an uncooperative person answered the door and would not allow deputies inside the residence, according to the Thurston County Sheriff's Office.

Without legal justification for forcible entry, the deputies returned to their investigation. Later that same day, detectives discovered the missing person had not been seen for several days. At the same time as this discovery, other units received reports of a situation involving a firearm at the same residence.

Responding law enforcement then developed probable cause to arrest the person at the home for second degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm. The SWAT team was called in to assist.

Crisis negotiators eventually made contact with the suspect, and they surrendered without further incident.

Once inside the home, deputies found the missing person dead.

As of Friday, there was no one in custody for the death of the missing person. The cause of death remains under investigation by the coroner.

Anyone with information related to this case is asked to contact detectives at detectives@co.thurston.wa.us or to call dispatch at 360-704-2740.
