Missing Washington man with memory problems found lying in dirt road in Utah

ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — A southern Utah man helped bring peace to a Washington family when he stopped to help a man lying in a dirt road with no shirt or shoes.

The Spectrum of St. George reports that the 72-year-old man was reported missing in Onalaska, Washington, two weeks ago.

Iron County Sheriff Lt. Del Schlosser says the man's family said he had recently been diagnosed with medical conditions related to memory loss.

Water Conservancy District employee Tracy Feltner was working Wednesday morning when he spotted a Jeep in the middle of the dirt road. He found the man about a mile away.

Feltner says he used extra coats to warm the man up and called 911.

Schlosser says it isn't clear why the man was nearly 1,100 miles away from home.
