Murdered Seattle teen laid to rest
SEATTLE -- In a crowded gymnasium, friends and family said goodbye to Mary Clare Conley, known lovingly as 'Molly'.
Molly was just 15 years and one day old, celebrating her birthday with friends in Lake Stevens, when she was shot and killed. One week has passed and the shooter is still on the loose.
Reverend John Whitney presided over the service. Whitney said, "The presence of that absence is everywhere. And we will hold Molly by telling stories together.”
Molly was a straight ‘A’ student at Bishop Blanchet and an active teen. She played lacrosse, and loved the spotlight, an Irish dancer with a passion for her drama class.
The youngest of three kids, Molly's father said he will always miss his little girl.
"Molly's physical presence will no longer enter the room,” John Conley said. “We will not feel her embrace but that spirit she gifted us with is in this room right now. Bigger than ever.”
Molly's brother, Johnny, shared stories of a tough sister who will always be in his heart.
"She sent me to thee ER twice,” Johnny Conley said. “One was direct and one was indirect.”
He said he will also remember Molly for her loyalty and love and reminded everyone that time with our loved ones is precious and short.
"If you love someone, you need to show your love,” Johnny said.
Molly Conley was great at school and sports, but at her best, when caring for others.
"Love is all you can give sometimes,” Johnny said. "It's the greatest thing you can give. And Molly gave it every single day of her life. I love you, Molly.”
