Authorities are investigating a Friday afternoon shooting near Bellevue's transit center that left an officer and a suspect injured.

Authorities are investigating a Friday afternoon shooting near Bellevue's transit center that left an officer and a suspect injured and hospitalized.

Police shooting near transit center in Bellevue, WA

FOX 13 crews at the scene along NE 6th Street learned that the officer and the suspect were both taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries remain unspecified, however the Independent Force Investigation Team report both people were given emergency, lifesaving medical aid. 

A report from the team in King County only says there was an altercation leading up to the shooting ar around 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 12. The suspect was taken into custody for first-degree assault. 

Further information was limited heading into the weekend.

The investigation into the shooting will be led by the King County Force Investigation Team.
