Oregon man charged after leaving his two dogs in car

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — A Salem man has been charged with first-degree animal neglect after his greyhound was found dead in his station wagon.

The Statesman Journal reports that Sgt. Mark Garton of the Polk County Sheriff's Office says Mark Vlossak was cited after two dogs were discovered in his car with the windows rolled up on Tuesday.

Garton says Vlossak suffers ongoing medical issues and appeared to be having a medical episode when he left his white poodle and 12-year-old greyhound in his car.

Employees at St. Innocent Winery, where Vlossak is also an employee, were notified about the dogs and the poodle was released from the car.

Garton says Vlossak thought he had brought the dogs with him to work as he often does.

A court proceeding hasn't yet been scheduled.
