Organization seeks to secure funding for foster kids

SEATTLE -- State lawmakers say there's good news when it comes to the state's revenue forecast, but Washington still faces a $1.25 billion dollar budget shortfall.

Adding to the crisis, an additional $1 billion in funding has been pledged to public schools. As lawmakers seek out areas to trim the budget, advocacy groups are searching for ways to escape the cuts.

Treehouse, an organization that provides support for children in state foster care, is asking lawmakers to continue to fund programs that help these kids excel. Treehouse CEO Janis Avery speaks on the importance of preserving financial support for such education and social programs.
