ARLINGTON, Wash. - A small plane disappeared over the Cascades on Thursday after taking off from Arlington Municipal Airport.
At about 10 a.m., the King County Sheriff's Office received a report about a plane flying from Arlington to Twin Falls went off the radar and was potentially missing.
The Federal Aviation Administration told FOX 13 News that the single-engine Mooney M20 departed Arlington and was headed to Joslin Field - Magic Valley Regional Airport in Twin Falls, Idaho.
The plane's last known location was near Bandera State Airport in Bandera, Washington - not far from Snoqualmie Pass.
Deputies launched search and rescue crews in a remote area north of North Bend.
On Friday, Sergeant Tim Meyer with the King County Sheriff's Office told FOX 13 News that they believe they have identified the wreckage scene and appeared that one person was aboard the plane.
Search efforts were suspended on Thursday due to weather and resumed Friday morning.
"We're calling it at this point, a recovery mission," Meyer said.
The King County Sheriff's Office will remain at the scene and the National Transportation Safety Board will take over the investigation.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
